The gadget that didn't exist: designed and produced on behalf of another company
A company that creates gadgets for other businesses had a request that no existing catalog could fulfill. We designed and printed it for them, staying behind the scenes.
Gadget company, anonymized
A request with no answer on the market
Our client isn't the one who ends up using the gadget: it's a company that creates gadgets and promotional items on behalf of other businesses. One of its clients had a very specific need, but standard catalogs and suppliers offered nothing that fit. They needed particular objects, some with a specific look and weight, others meant to survive daily use.
Buying an existing product off the shelf wasn't an option: nobody made it. And commissioning a dedicated mold for just a few dozen pieces would have taken forever and cost far out of proportion. The gadget company was at risk of telling its own client the one phrase nobody wants to say: "it can't be done."
Design and production, while staying invisible
We did what the market didn't offer: starting from the end client's needs, we designed the gadget from scratch and then 3D-printed it. No mold, no huge minimum order: only the pieces actually needed, in the right material for each object.
The key point is that NOC stayed behind the scenes. In the eyes of the end client, the gadget comes from the gadget company, not from us. It's a white-label service: we provide the technology and the design, our client puts their own name on it and looks great doing so.
Custom design
We translated the end client's needs into a real 3D design, object by object: from the "3D Porphyry" to a model van, down to details like the branded keychain and zip pull.
Material chosen for the use
For the "3D Porphyry" we used black carbon-fiber-reinforced PETG (PETG-CF): rigid, stable and with a technical look. For more classic gadgets, like the zip pull, ABS: light and cost-effective at these quantities.
Batch production, on demand
We produced the various objects in batches spread over the months, following requests as they came in: 30 keychains in December, 55 "3D Porphyry" in April, 20 zip pulls in May.
Timing and work rhythm
The work started in December 2025 with the first van model and the 30 keychains, and continued in batches through May 2026: 55 "3D Porphyry" in PETG-CF in April and 20 zip pulls in ABS in May, for about 106 pieces in total. No mold waiting times: each batch started when it was needed.
The result for the client
- The gadget company was able to say "yes" to its own client, instead of turning down the job.
- The gadget was designed and produced to measure, with no molds and no huge minimum orders.
- Materials chosen one by one: rigid PETG-CF for the "3D Porphyry", light ABS for the classic gadgets.
- NOC stayed invisible: in the eyes of the end client, all the credit goes to the gadget company.
The beauty of white-label is that our client looks great in front of theirs, while we stay behind the scenes. They needed a gadget that didn't exist: we designed and printed it, they put their name on it.
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean that you work white-label?
It means we design and produce on behalf of another company, without appearing. The product reaches the end client under our client's name, not ours. It's especially useful for those who create gadgets or promotional items for others.
Can you also make just a few pieces and all-different objects?
Yes. In this case we produced objects that differ from one another, from keychains to the "3D Porphyry", in batches of even just a few dozen pieces. 3D printing requires no molds, so small quantities and variety are not a problem.
Why use a material like carbon-fiber PETG for a gadget?
Because we choose the material based on its use. Carbon-fiber-reinforced PETG is rigid, stable and has a technical look that adds value to the object. For simpler gadgets, instead, we use lighter and cheaper materials like ABS.
Got a gadget the market doesn't offer you?
If you create gadgets and promotional items and one of your clients asks for something you can't find in any catalog, we can design and produce it for you, white-label. Tell us what you need.
